Questions families ask first.
How long does a Texas divorce take?
Texas requires a minimum 60-day waiting period from the date of filing, and many cases take longer depending on the issues. An uncontested case can move quickly; a contested one takes as long as the disputes do.
Do we have to go to court?
Not always. Many family matters are resolved through negotiation or mediation, which is often faster, less expensive, and less painful. When agreement isn't possible, we're prepared to advocate for you in court.
How is custody decided?
Texas courts decide conservatorship and possession based on the best interest of the child. Your relationship with your children, stability, and each parent's circumstances all factor in.
What happens to our house and debts?
Texas is a community-property state. Property and debt acquired during the marriage are generally divided in a just and fair way — which isn't always an even split.
What will it cost?
It depends on whether the case is agreed or contested and how complex the issues are. The initial consultation is confidential and free, and you'll get a straight answer about cost.
Will I have direct access to my attorney?
Yes. You work directly with your attorney, and when a matter calls for added experience we bring in trusted of-counsel colleagues. Either way, we pride ourselves on communication — your calls and questions get answered, and you'll always know where your case stands.
Let's talk about where things stand.
A consultation is confidential and costs you nothing. Tell us what's going on — we'll figure out the path forward together.
